Visit Studio Classroom

   In 24th April 2008, we went to Studio Classroom to learn how they work. I was impressed with the way they record the video. At first, there was a friendly teacher who lead us to visit every rooms and introduce the fountion of every rooms. For example, there was a room that is equipped with many instruments. According to the teacher, it is used to record the songs which can be heard in the CD. All the equipment in there amazed me. And we saw a woman sitting in front of a huge and complicated machine. What she has to do is to montage what they record so that a compelete CD can be made on time. In addition, in order to finish the work on time, they have to work hard ahead of schedule. In other words, if there is a magazine should be published in May, they must finish all the working in December or January. There is a diverting phenomenon that you might see them wear a heavy coat in a hot day, and put a T-shirt when the temperature is terriblily low.

    After realizing the way they work, we finally have the opprotunity to talk to the teacher in the program face-to-face. After a while, here came a tall and handsome man. He is Steve！The real Steve. I only can hear his voice in the video in peacetime. It was so exciting to me that I can see himself. And I found that Steve can speak Chinese very well too.

   Thanks to Studio Classroom, I feel that my English has obviously improvement. And after visiting Studio Classroom, I finally realize learning English can be very interesting and joyful too. English is more than just a sudject but a tool that talk to other people. It connect with each other. I remember a teacher used to say：make a friend with English, you will like it, and even fall in love with it. Now that I find the confidence to learn English, I will stick to learn. Maybe one day, I can speak English very well. Just like Steve can speak Chinese well too.

Good Music─ Rachmaninov

Have you ever feel that your life was boring? Or think the thing around you is noisy and annoying? At this time, you will sure to do something you want to do to calm your mind, like reading, exerciseing. There is another easy way to relax─listening some good music.

There is a nice music I want to introduce to you. “Symphony NO. 2” which is wriiten by Sergei Rachmaninov. And it’s the third movement.  I like it very much. Everytime I hear the music, I feel like I could recollect my past memories, which was a  wonderful  part of my life. At the same time, you can put your pain behind and forget the pressure also.

Learning plan of my future

One year has gone so fast. I will be a student who are going to attend an improtant exam after a year. If I can pass the exam successfully, I am sure to have a wonderful life in the future. However, there is only one chance I have. I don’t want to lost it. I can’t be a loser again. How can I get the hang of my study? The most improtant thing I have to do is changing my way of learning.

In this winter vacation, I entered a cram school named Weng-Cheng. I chose to spend my time in studing instead of playing all day long. The teachers gave me confidence. Teached me how to master the exam.

And we can’t watch TV from now on. Because I like watching TV more than doing homwork, my mom decided to insolated the TV. Kept the TV away from me. I was astonished when I first heard it. But to ponder over, my mom is right. If I don’t abstain from watching TV, it is impossible for me to entered a good college.

There are still two semesters in senior high school I have(If I want to be a college student ahead of time). It is necessary to make good use of my time. I know it will be hard and tired, but I believe “the more I give, the more I receive.” Everything I do will be worthy. Far across the distance, success will be there and wait for me.

【Talk about school】Anniversary celebrations in Lishan!

Hi everybody! Today is       . My name is        . The weather is getting pretty chilly these days, so everyone should add a cozy coat.  Today, during this session, we will talk about the anniversary celebrations in Lishan Senior High School this year.  It was held on November 3rd.  If you missed it this year, don’t forget to join us next year.   We will be waiting for you. This year there were a lot of activities, including the singing competition, the relay race, the class fairs, shows by other schools and the science and literature activities which are a characteristic of our school.  In the science and literature activities, the students competed against each other when teachers from different subjects asked questions.  For example, in the English Subject competition, groups were given vocabulary words and were asked to describe the word without saying it out loud.  A member of the group had to guess the word while the other tried to describe it in English.  Everyone had fun participating in this competition.  This is the first time we held this ‘subject competition’, but I believe that it will become a trend, so when you visit us next year, you may also be able to participate in it too!  Don’t you think that is so exciting?  Well, our school anniversary this year was very successful and everyone sure had a blast!

【Chat room】

Today, I want to share a book. I know most students don’t like to read, or do not have time to read. But it’s good for you to read some novels or poems in English sometimes. Oh~ ok~ but it’s not my point today!! Let’s get back to the book which I want to introduce , “Eats, Shoots & Leaves”.

It was written by Lynne Truss. She is a writer and journalist. She was writing about the punctuation in the article. Through sloppy usage on the Internet, in emails, and now in the text messages, we have poor skills at using punctuations. And a lot of net-speak popped up suddenly. Lynne dares to say, in her humorous, witty and very English way, it is time to look at our commas and semicolons and see them as the wonderful and necessary things they are. Not only scholars but everyone should pay attention to it. Punctuations are an everyday thing, causing us to make mistakes easily or forget them.It’s a different direction now that we can see the English literature. From a British writer, we can consider the problems that the foreign scholars care about in their culture. I want to put everybody up for reading this “Eats, shoots & leaves”. Though it might take you a lot of time to read it and also have to do a lot of hard work looking up words in the dictionary, but it’s worth it. Believe me! This is the first show of “Lishan Insight”. Lishan insight

In this semester, we are going to make a podcast introducing our school. We will talk about the Anniversary celebrations in Lishan senior high, and introduce all the activities held in the Anniversary celebrations. In addition, we also have ” Chat room”, the part which share you something interesting. We are talking about English literature. This is the first show of “Lishan Insight”. 

New Semester is Coming！

New semester is finally coming！We all expect for this day’s coming. This is the first day we meet new classmates, new teacher and  a very beautiful exchange student. Her name is Kathy. She is a girl with curly golden hair and white skin. She will stay with us untill next year. In addition, there is also an exchange student in class 201. The exchange student is a handsome boy and he can speak Chinese a little but well. They come to Taiwan for learning Chinese culture and experiencing our way of life. Now, my new way of life is about to start. I’m very glad for their coming. To talk with them more easily and intimate, I have to improve my English more diligent. This is a very good opportunity to have a foreign friend and to practice language to each other at the same time.

After a very long summer vacation, I read many famous novels like ” The Stolen Child”, ” The Hospital”, ” The Dangerous Mind ” and ” The Da Vinci Code” . I become like to reading. I’m afraid that after the end of  summer vacation, I won’t have enough time to reading or to do what I want to do. If there is only one wish I could make, I hope that we could have less homework and  pressure.(but that is certainly impossible) Our new teacher told us that we must have three main principle-Responsibling for what you do, Being humorous and witty and Having a kind heart. She ask us to follow these principle. And with these principle, we can  benefit from what we do and what we learn.

At this moment, I think of called ” Just wave Hello“which sung by Charllotte: Raise your hands and show the world/And tell every one the moment has come/And it’s time to wave hello. That’s right！It’s time have a good start.

Comments for the Kindred interview

After I interviewed my grandfather, I know more better about my great grandfather and my family.Especially after I heard of  my great grandfather’s dreams and his perfection. It deeply touched me a lot. “The things what you wanted might not be the best.”was my great grandfather’s motto all the time.From now on, it will be mine too. Because I have never seen my great grandfather before, I actually didn’t know him very well. But after my interviewing, I realized my great grandfather is a good model for me to learn. My grandfather was also glad to share the story with me. Besides the story about my great grandfather, he also shared some childhood’s memories with me. We all thank for having the chance to talk about our family together. My grandfather said our life is happier than before. We should  treasure every moment we lives so as to create brighter future.

The Kindred Project─My Great Grandfather

I am going to tell a story about my great grandfather.His name is ChouWang Huang and he has no nickname. He  passed away before I was born.I have never seen him before. So I could only know him through my grandfather.

The story can date back to Ching Dynasty. My great grandfather was born in 1900─the beginning of 20 century. He was born in Chung─hua . At that time, Taiwan was a part of China.  According to the history, the poeple living at that time had to sport hair. So my  grandfather had  long hair. At the end of Ching Dynasty, the government had no force to against  foreign countries. In no time, a part of China─Taiwan, was conquered by Japen. My great grandfather became a Japanese. Japan’s government forced people living in Taiwan to change their names into Japanese names. However, most  people didn’t want to do  this. So, many people have at least two names of their own. And we can see them wearing Japanese clothing in the pictures.

My great grandfather was in a big family. He had twenty brothers and sisters because his father has four wives！However, his brothers and sisters didn’t have many children. It seems that he didn’t get along with his brothers and sisters. And he didn’t have many happy memories.Our family has a naming tradition. For example, we gave the word ”竹” to my great grandfather’s generation,the word “紹”to my father’s generation and the word “世” to my generation. 

My great grandfather’s achievement is very good. He entered an excellent college  named MingZhi in Japan. He is good at law. He also studued law in high school and even in college. However, he didn’t practice law after he graduated. The reason why he didn’t practice law was that he couldn’t pass the law’s exam. This is the thing that he regreted most.

In 1945, after world war II end. Taiwan was restored to China’s government.

An important event happend ： Guangdao was attacked by America. America shot atom bomb to Guangdao. My great grandfather used to study in there but soon he moved to Taiwan where he lives with his family when Guangdao was attacked. So he wasn’t  involve in the attack.

The other important event that happend in Taiwan was 228 event. Then, many people like lawyers,writers,teachers and even college students were arrested by the government. Due to my great grandfather’s career as a public servant,  he were not arrested. At that time, it was lucky enough for him.

My great grandfather usually telled my grandfather that although his dream was to be a lawyer, study for law, but the the reason why he can survive was that he were not a lawer.Otherwise, he might have been dead during 228 event.  It gives me an lesson that the thing what you wanted most might not the best.In the society  is full of disorder, it is difficult to have good times let alone your dreams.
